Reputable booking platforms that hold funds until departure come next. Bank wire is weak — once the funds land and are withdrawn, recovery depends on the receiving bank's cooperation.
Crypto, gift cards and person-to-person mobile money are effectively irreversible. Treat any request for them as a stop signal.
The name-match rule
The single most useful payment control is simple: the account name must match the registered company name exactly. Not a director's personal name, not a similar trading name, not a relative.
If the operator explains the mismatch — a group company, a forex account — ask for that entity's registration and put the explanation in writing before paying.
Structuring the payment
Pay the smallest deposit the operator will accept, and hold the balance until close to arrival or on arrival where they allow it.
Keep every message, quote and invoice. A dispute is won with documentation, not with recollection.
